Police Nab Two Robbery Suspects, Recover Snatched Motorcycle, Arms


Operatives of Ogun State Police Command said they arrested two armed robbery suspects during operation on Sunday. 

The operatives further disclosed that the robbers were arrested at Olambe area of Akute in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State. 

The suspects are Lukman Olanrewaju, a 27-yr-old man and Shola Alabi, who is aged 28. 

Abimbola Oyeyemi, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ogun State Command, who confirmed the incident said they were arrested following a distress call received by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ajuwon, SP Andrew Akinseye. 

Oyeyemi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), said the call was received by 5 p.m. on Sunday. 

He said the distress call stated that a three-man armed robbery gang was operating at Olambe area, and that they have shot one commercial motorcyclist who was later identified as Anas Usman and snatched his commercial motorcycle. 

“Upon the distress call, the DPO led his men to the scene, and with collaboration of the some Safe Corps members, two suspects were arrested. 

“Recovered from them are, one cut- to- size locally made gun, two live cartridges and the snatched motorcycle. 

“The victim was quickly taken to the hospital for treatment, while effort is on top gear to apprehend the remaining member of the gang,” Oyeyemi disclosed.
